can you Ghost win7 from a single HDD to a Raid setup?

Hello all,
I have Win 7 ultimate 64bit on a 74gb raptor just wondering if its possible to Ghost it to a raid setup on 2 other HDD(2* 500gb barracuda's). If this is possible please explain the steps in order to transfer it to the raid setup. Thanks!

Theoretically yes, but only with 1. a hardware raid controller (one that presents the RAID'ed disks as a single disk to the system) and 2. you install the RAID drivers on Windows 7 prior to copying.

A software RAID, setup within Windows, would not work because it would be a chicken-or-egg situation.

A hardware RAID bypasses this limitation by handling the RAID itself, Windows then sees it as a simple disk and hopefully boot from it.

GHOST should be able to write to the hardware RAID controller without having the drivers by using the old INT 19 / BIOS access routines. I have known GHOST doing this on high-end HP RAID controllers, where you have 8+ disk drives in RAID 5 - so there's hope for you!

Best of luck.
