can i use an HP SAS drive on my pc?

a friend is giving away his parts and i would take take this drive if i could use it. its an HP 146gb SAS 3.5" harddrive. i am not familiar with its connection, he inserts it into his hp pc's drive bay so i have no idea what kind of cables are involved. my question is can i use this for myself on a none hp computer? i have an ASUS m5a97 motherboard. thanks for the help
i see. thanks mr. b. i will trust your info on this one, seems to be similar with other's opinions on it everywhere else. i will probably take it and post it on ebay or something. thanks again

Generally speaking, no.

You will need a Serial Attached SCSI controller in order to use the drive. For the relatively small sum of ~$500 you too can proudly say you own one and a FREE drive. Not a good deal.

While the connections look like they might work the internal SATA controller will not work with the SAS drive.

?Good luck.
